effects of sex education on reducing conflicts among couples, isfahan, iran

background: c onflicts are inevitable among couples. in fact, couples show various levels of independence and correlation in common decisions they make and cooperation they have. high levels of conflicts would lead to family dissociation. the present study tried to evaluate the relation between sex education and on reducing the overall marital conflict score and its dimensions such as relationship with the spouse, sexual relationship, and equalization roles. methods: this quasi-experimental study pretest-posttest and a control group was performed on 30 couples who were randomly selected from the cultural centers of isfahan. the couples were divided into experimental and control groups. data was collected by the standard marital conflict questionnaire which is based on a likert scale. the questionnaire also included demographic characteristics. findings: the results of covariance analysis showed that sex education improved the scores of marital conflicts (p < 0.05; f = 416.9) and its subscales such as the relationship with the spouse (p < 0.05; f = 75.2), sexual relationship (p < 0.05; f = 3.56), and equalization roles (p < 0.5; f = 321.60). conclusion: sex education increased sexual satisfaction and decreased conflicts by increasing affection, and appropriate emotional relationships.
